The 5 stages of making a decision that feels good and right

Feeling confused and frazzled about a decision you have to make?

You are not alone. We are challenged with making decisions every minute of every day.

Some inconsequential and some important.

Either way we want to make a decision that feels right and does good.

We want to do it with originality and calm.

With any decision we are in one of these 5 stages:

1. Saturate — the discovery stage and it is time to get curious.
Telling ourselves: I don’t know enough

2. Percolate — the purpose stage and it’s time to tap into your strengths.
Telling ourselves: I don’t know if this feels right

3. Create — the delivery stage and it is time to take a risk.
Telling ourselves: I don’t know if I can do this

4. Celebrate — the validation stage and it is time to surround yourself with good people.
Telling ourselves: I don’t know if I have done the right thing

5. Rejuvenate — this is the growth stage and it is time to give your mind and body a break.
Telling ourselves: I feel exhausted and can’t think.

When we have identified where we are at, we complete that stage.

We do it well and give it our best.

Then we move onto the next stage. Being careful not to miss one.

Rejuvenate could be as simple as closing our eyes and taking a deep breath.

Our decision will feel ‘righter and gooder’ and our win will have given us confidence.

And our confidence will give us momentum to do it again.

If you have a daughter and you would like her to learn how to complete each stage Join the Waitlist for the “Unlocking Creativity,” a 5 week online course for girls open once a year. We use art to cement the learning and stretch her self-expression.

When Jane is not teaching creativity to girls, or writing about creativity, she is being creative, designing fabrics as a surface pattern designer.
